Our History
From just two young guys and a few paintbrushes to a full-service professional painting company.
While working on their degrees at two different liberal arts colleges in Lancaster, PA, good friends Peter Barber and Brian McCaskey started Two Dudes Painting Company in 1987. Their beginnings were humble, using a spare room in Peter’s house as a makeshift office and storage space. Peter and Brian were the physical manifestation of their brand with a bright orange ’79 Volkswagen bus used for transporting ladders and colorful cans of paint.
Some Milestones From Our Journey
Today, over thirty-five years later, the company has more than 90 employees based out of a 13,000 square-foot facility in downtown Lancaster. From their modest beginnings, Two Dudes Painting Company now serves clients across South Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland.
It was a brush of good luck that the original dudes chose a memorable, iconic bus to transport their supplies. That orange bus has become not just the Two Dudes company logo, but also a symbol of how we do business: We work hard, we’re reliable, and we’re full of personality.
